John D. Wise is a professor of philosophy, having received his PhD from the U of California, Irvine in 2004. His undergraduate degree is in theology from Lancaster Bible College. He has taught extensively in both bricks-and-mortar and online
classrooms for nearly twenty years, and his classes are frequently cited by students as among the best of their educational experience. John has a deep passion for knowledge, truth, and meaning, and a unique gift for communicating that passion to his audience. His interests and competencies over 53 years of life are broad and extremely diverse; he is an “everyman” jack-of-all trades who has done nearly everything at one time or another in his life, from janitor, carpenter, maintenance, and auto mechanic to University professor, often at the same time. As such he relates closely to all audiences, having the shared experiences of our common humanity.
Faith, poetry, history, philosophy and literature, science and technology, psychology and anthropology – ALL inform his worldview and his speaking/teaching. His life-experience and education has created an eclectic amalgam that is unique in today’s world, and his presentations reflect and emphasize eternal verities, not the shifting shadows of cultural fads.
Meaning, the touchstone of existence, is discovered as we seek understanding and accept responsibility for ourselves and our world. It is John’s mission to uncover and speak TRUTH in the pursuit of meaning, no matter where that takes him, to inspire others to goodness, faith and love in the face of this world’s very real troubles.
